Wow, first day of February already. Have you done all you planned for January? I did most things :) Some I have had to postpone to Feb, lucky there's an extra day this year.

A bit late posting this layout, sorry. For the Storytelling challenge over at Scrapfreak we had to create a layout where we tell the story using the prompts: who, what, where, when and why?

My One Little Word for 2012

I am late getting this up, running behind already! School holidays are keeping me so busy this year. But that's all to do with my One Little Word for 2012.

My word is: PLAY

PLAY - verb
to do things for pleasure, as children do; to enjoy yourself, rather than work.

PLAY - noun
things that people, especially children, do for pleasure rather than as work

My life tends to be very busy with me running around all day. This year I want to focus more on enjoying life, spending time with the children, on playing. While housework etc needs to be done I don't want this to be the main focus in my life. I want to treasure the moments with my children, I will never get this time back with them. And let's face it - the ironing will be still there tomorrow whilst my children at this age won't be.

So bring on 2012, have fun and make time to PLAY!!

Hello and a Happy Thursday. Today is my last blog entry as part of the WOW Design Team. I have had so much fun being part of this amazing and talented Design Team and working with such a great product and I thank Suzanne for allowing me this opportunity. While it is sad for me I am looking forward to seeing what Suzanne has instore for WOW and am looking forward to continue creating with WOW chipboard.

For my layout I have used these beautiful gates:

Firstly, I inked the top half of the gates:

Then using a lighter shade of ink I dabbed the bottom half blending both colours in the middle to give a graded look.

I inked the edges in black to blend the chipboard in with the rest of the layout. Next I covered the chipboard in glitter varnish.

Hello and happy Sunday :)))

The boys have just returned from their weekend away. Kajetan loved going camping with his dad and us girls loved the quiet and spending some time together. Now I am watching the ARIA awards and I have to say Australia has some amazing talent.

Here's a layout I think turned out really cute. The photo of Kalia is one of my favourites. She looks so happy here. She has been feeling much better with the last two weeks being really good. Thank you again to everyone for your support over the past year.

Here's a close up of the flowers. I layered the flowers using the Alchemy Blooms 4 chipboard from Words or Whatever Chipboard. I used ink to cover the flowers and then inked the edges to blend with the rest of the layout. I then topped them off with a pearl - so cute!!

WOW Christmas Projects

Christmas is a great time to get crafty and make lots of handmade cards and goodies. And WOW chipboard is the perfect addition to anything you make. Today, I wanted to share some Christmas projects I made using WOW chipboard. I made some cards, a gift tag, a bonbon and paper stocking. Here are the projects I made - beware, this post is photo heavy :-))))

And now for some close ups :)

For this card I used the title 'Merry Christmas' from the 'Mixed Christmas Card Words' and a bauble from the 'Christmas Card Embellishment Pack':

I painted the chipboard and applied some glitter. I painted the title red but used green glitter for contrast:

For this card I used 'Christmas Stocking' and the title 'Joy' from the 'Mixed Christmas Card Words'. I used markers to colour both in carefully and then I put glitter on the mouse to make it stand out and on the title:

Here I used 'Christmas Flowers' which I coloured using markers and added some sparkle using rhinestones:

Here I used the very cute 'Goofy Reindeer':

For the last three I used the 'Christmas Charm Pack' which I have to admit are my favourite. These are so adorable. Here's Father Christmas, I also used the title 'Ho Ho Ho' from the 'Mixed Christmas Card Pack':

For the bon bon I used the very, very cute reindeer, he got a little red glittered nose:

And here I used the cute Christmas tree:

What a crazy week!! But I guess every week is crazy. Tonight I wanted to share this layout with you. I think it turned really well and is one of my favourites at the moment. This photo of Kajetan was taken a few years back.

I used WOW chipboard for the title and embellishments. I used good old paint to cover the chipboard and then roughly inked the edges using brown ink.

Here's a close up of the title - the actual title is 'Our Boys' but I cut the 's' off to suit my needs :))

And a close up of the fire truck and cars - aren't they just adorable? :)))) These are part of the 'Boy Car Pack'.

I loved the details on the ladder of this fire engine and didn't want to just cover it so I painted it using a very, very thin paint brush. It took me a while as I wanted it to be perfect and I am glad I did because it turned out well.

It Feels Like Summer....

It is starting to warm up, above 30 degrees already. It is starting to feel like summer. It's good the winter cold weather is over and it's heating up but I'm sure I'll be over the heat soon enough.

The last couple of weeks have been busy with school holidays. We are finally starting to get our veggie garden set up so we spent lots of time gardening, sweeping and weeding. Also, lots of spring cleaning in the house. We had a great day in the zoo and Kajetan and I went to the movies a couple of times.

I have even had some time to scrap :)))) This page I scrapped mostly for my children so that when one day I am no longer here and they inherit the tonnes of layouts and they are wondering WHY???? did mum scrap so much they will have an answer. This happens to also be one of my favourite photos of the kids together.

I used the 'Lily Flourish' from WOW Chipboard. I inked it in black and outlined in glitter.

I have decided I need to focus more on the journaling side of scrapbooking and have started with firstly answering why I scrapbook. So keep an eye out for more layouts coming soon :)))

WOW layout

Hello everyone :) Sorry for the delay in posting - I scheduled the post but forgot to press 'publish. Today I wanted to show you a couple of simple layouts showing how 'tough' WOW chipboard is.

For this first layout I used the absolutely beautiful Tall Clock. I firstly painted the clock, the body in teal and the face in white. I then applied crackle paint onto the body and dimensional magic onto the face. (On a side note, I just love how good the details are on all the WOW chipboard. I painted the face but the details on the clock still showed up perfectly :)))))

I then wrapped ribbon around it and using liquid glue I stuck flowers onto it.

This is the finished layout.

For the second layout I used new release Arrows. I wanted to paint the arrows but found the paint I wanted to use was quite thin and didn't cover the chipboard as well as I wanted. If this happens a little tip is to first cover the chipboard in white paint. Let it dry and then paint in the colour you want. Keep painting the chipboard until you get the look you like letting the paint dry between each layer.

Here are the arrows all painted and pretty - I used a total of 4 layers of paint, the white and three layers of colour.

Here's the finished layout:

As you can see I put many layers of various types of paint, glass finish and glue onto the chipboard, wrapped it in ribbon, drew on it and still it remained like new. It never lost it's shape, split or buckle. WOW chipboard is made to last and handle anything we put it through and as all our designers have shown - we put the chipboard through a lot :)))))

Papercraft Star Guest Design

Hello and Happy Wednesday. I am so excited today as I am a guest designer over at Papercraft Star for challenge 64. I loved being part of Papercraft Star when I was a designer, and I am soooo thrilled to be part of it again. This week's challenge is LACE. Look at this beautiful photo inspiration:

Here's my layout - I used some beautiful lace to go across the page.

Here's a close-up of the embellie cluster. I used a flower I cut out from some lace and a flower made of lace.

I also used a WOW chipboard title which I inked and covered in dimensional magic.

Little Aliens

Wow, it has been a crazy couple of weeks. And on top of that I went away to Port Elliot for a scrapbooking retreat last weekend and I haven't been able to get myself organised since I've gotten back. But, never fear, I have some cute layouts to share featuring some absolutely adorable pieces of WOW chipboard.

These little aliens are just the cutest, aren't they?

I really like the one in the middle and even though these are a 'boy' pack of chipboard I thought I'd use this one for a 'girl' layout. It looks like it has pigtails so I thought it is perfect for a cute girly page.

Here's a baby page of Kalia using this alien, I have also used a circle frame piece from the 12"x12" Circle Frame Set, which I inked in pink.

Here's a close up of the cute little alien - I pulled the face and eyes apart, inked them using white and pink ink. I then put the pieces back together, added some glitter to the ends of the hands, feet and 'pigtails' and some dimensional magic to the eyes.

For Kajetan's baby layout I chose the alien with the 'spiky hair' as he calls it.

Here's a close up of this alien. Again, I put the alien apart, inked all the pieces and put it together again. This time I covered the whole alien in glitter and then in dimensional magic.

WOW Fairy Flourish

Hello and a happy Thursday spring morning :) Spring is my favourite season - when I think of spring I think of flowers, butterflies and...fairies. And WOW chipboard has the most beautiful fairy flourish, I fell in love as soon as I saw it.

Here is the fairy flourish - Beautiful!!!

I wanted to do something simple with it but, at the same time, have it stand out on my layout. I started off by painting the fairy with glimmer mist and inking the flourish.

Next, I outlined the fairy with glitter using the same colour as the glimmer mist. I completely covered the wings and flourish in glitter. I love glitter and think it is perfect for chipboard.

I put this aside to dry thoroughly and while it was drying I put my layout together.

Once the glitter dried I covered the fairy flourish in dimensional magic including the glittered bits. This will give the whole lot extra shine, dimension and really make it stand out on the page.

After this dried I adhered it to the layout. I put the fairy flourish on top of a white flower to make it stand out even more.

And here's the completed layout. By keeping the layout simple the fairy flourish gets all the attention and jumps off the page.

I hope you enjoyed this simple technique which is perfect for beautiful pieces of WOW chipboard.

First Day of Spring

Today is the first day of spring and the weather is beautiful. It makes me want to go outside and take lots of photos to scrap. Before I do that I wanted to share this layout with you.

I have used WOW chipboard - the circle border and the title. The circle border really compliments the title so to make them work together I painted both in black and then applied pink glitter to make them stand out against the black paper.

My New Look Blog

Hello and happy Tuesday :)

I've been having problems with my blog so have decided to change the look of it while trying to fix the problems. I like the new look, it's still the shabby look but I really like this template. Can't seem to get it back to a three column layout so will stick with this one.

The last few days have been filled with looking after sick children. Kajetan has had the last two days of school but I think he's ready to go back tomorrow. I am trying to function on very little sleep but it isn't going to well, especially with Kalia stuck to me.
I thought I'd share this layout of Kajetan and Kalia that I recently did. The photo is over two years old. I used Kaisercraft's 'Pink Gelato' paper collection. The title is WOW chipboard. I just love the font of this title. The actual title is 'sisters' but I cut the 's' off.

Here's a close up of the title. I mixed a dark aqua paint with lots of white to get it the right shade. Once the paint dried I covered the word with dimensional magic.

WOW Chipboard and Purple Pumpkin Sketch

Happy Friday :) This week has just flown by. But I have managed to get a couple of layouts completed so it has been a productive week. Kajetan's class ran their school assembly today, he was so cute on the stage. I took some photos of him and will scrap them :) Kalia and I spent some time in Harbour Town and even managed to spend very little money.

Today I wanted to share a layout I did based on this sketch from Purple Pumpkin:
Here's my layout. I used Kaisercraft's 'Chapter One' collection. I also used Words or Whatever chipboard. I used one of my favourite titles - Believe in the Impossible. And I also used a small bloom in the bottom left hand corner which I inked in black, applied a pearl and adhered onto a crochet doily. These Alchemy Blooms are so versatile and I love using them.

My First WOW Blog Post

Hello, I'm here with my first blog post for WOW. Be sure to visit the blog and check out all the inspiration by the very talented Design Team.

To start your week off I thought I'd share with you one of my favourite techniques for using chipboard. I love my Cuttlebug almost as much as my WOW chipboard so what could be better than combining the two :)

Here's what I did:

To start off I covered the chipboard in ink - I have used 'Mini Alchemy Blooms 4' for my layout.

Next, I placed the chipboard into an embossing folder and put it through my Cuttlebug.

The chipboard comes out looking like these - all beautiful and embossed.

I then used brown ink to lightly go over the chipboard to bring out the embossing.

And here's the finished layout. I applied the small blooms randomly around the layout using foam mounting tape.

Here is a close up of the larger blooms - I layered them onto paper flowers and then topped off with buttons giving more dimension.

And lastly, here's a close up of the title. I have used the title 'The Smile Says It All' which I painted with glimmer mist.

So even if your layout is simple like mine using chipboard and altering it gives the layout lots of dimension finishing it off beautifully.

A WOW LAYOUT

Happy Tuesday everyone. It's been a very sunny few days here in Adelaide. Absolutely beautiful weather for the middle of winter. And it's been busy in our household with Kalia not being well. To top it off she slipped yesterday and split open her forehead so off to the doctor's again. She didn't get any stitches as the doctor decided the amount of yelling wasn't worth it. He glued the cut instead so hopefully it will stay shut and won't need stitches.

Anyway, besides all the drama I have had a chance to scrap a little. Today I want to share this layout with you. I am very happy how it turned out. I used Kaisercraft's 'Lullaby' collection and WOW - Words or Whatever chipboard. Just love this chipboard!!!!

I painted the title using pink and white paint and covered it using glitter varnish. I then outlined the little cupcake with a pink pen for some definition. Here are a couple of close ups.

The big circle chipboard piece is awesome! It comes in a pack of circles of various sizes, there are sooo many in the pack. I used one of the larger circles. I also painted this in pink paint and glitter varnish. I then pleated some ribbon under it to get the ruffled pleated look. I think it really lifts the chipboard of the page.

Ten On Ten

Hello, it's been ages since I have posted. I haven't been able to publish my posts and have finally worked out why so here I am.

This month I did my first Ten On Ten - take a photo an hour for ten hours. Check out all the details here. I started at 10:30am and took a photo every hour of what I was doing at that time.

10:30am - Visiting my farm

11:30am - Cooking pasta for lunch

12:30pm - Making a strawberry smoothie for the children

1:30pm - Playing on the Wii with Kajetan

2:30pm - Painting with the children

3:30pm - Tidying my scrappy desk

4:30pm - Visiting Piece of Scrap forum

5:30pm - Playing board games with the children

6:30pm - Unloading the dishwasher

7:30pm - Sitting down to a cup of tea

I think this is a great idea and I think I will be doing this every month. I hope to scrap these photos on a layout.

Thursday WOW

This week is flying by - I hope you are enjoying the WOW layouts. I have another one for you today.

For this layout I have used the Kaisercraft 'English Rose' collection which is one of my favourites. And I had the perfect WOW chipboard to go with this beautiful paper range. Here's the layout:

The rose chipboard pieces are just beautiful. There are a few in the pack with two different designs. I have used three of the same design. I first inked the roses in pink and stems in green. I then applied Glimmer Mist, Sweet Pea and Olive Vine, to give it some sparkle. To finish off I used some glitter to outline the roses and give some extra sprakle and dimension.

Here's a close up of the roses - I decided to tie them together with some ribbon to make a small bouquet:

Another WOW layout

Hello. Today I have another layout to share using WOW chipboard. I used this month's sketch from Purple Pumpkin as my inspiration.

These photos of Kajetan were taken back in 2006 at the Bay to Birdwood. This is a get together for old car enthusiasts and as my husband loves old cars I tagged along. The WOW vintage car pack of chipboard was perfect for this layout. I used two cars from this pack, painted them and covered in matt varnish.

I have also used a couple of buttons from Purple Pumpkin that went really well with the theme of my layout. And the papers are Kaisercraft's 'Up, Up and Away' Collection which are also available from Windsor Cottage.

Hi and Happy Sunday! This week at Windsor Cottage we are having a WOW week. WOW, Words or Whatever, is an Australian Chipboard company that produces amazingly detailed chipboard. These chipboard pieces are the perfect finishing touch to any scrapbook layout or project.

This week Holly and I will showcase projects using WOW chipboard. All these pieces plus many, many, many more are available now from Windsor Cottage. Check out the chipboard here and pick up a few for your next project.

Today I am sharing a simple layout. I have used Kaisercraft's 'Jungle Bug' collection and finished the layout off with a WOW chipboard title.

To get this look cover your chipboard with ink, put it in an embossing folder and put it through your Cuttlebug (or other die cutting machine). I then finished it off with a layer of Dimensional Magic.

New Addition To The Family

Wow, time flies. I can't believe it's been so long since my last post. I have been busy entertaining the newest addition to our family - our kitten. We got her on the 3rd of June so have had her for 11 days. We got her from the SA Animal Welfare League. She was brought in very malnourished, covered in fleas and tiny for her age. She is 16 weeks old but looks much smaller. I went with Kalia to the Welfare league to choose the kitten but we didn't tell Kajetan. There were a few cute kittens there but when I saw Padme (pronounced Padmay - Kajetan picked the name) I knew she was the kitten for us.

Here are a few pictures taken on her first day with us - warning: totally gorgeous kitten :)))
Together with the kids. Notice how Kalia is holding her - poor kitten is quite tortured by Kalia and takes off as soon as she sees or hears Kalia but I think with time they will adjust to each other.

Kajetan with Padme. He is totally besotted by her. Every morning he takes her out the laundry and takes her into his bed where they sleep together. He was so happy when he came home and saw her. He is very protective of her and she seems to have taken a liking to him.

She has adjusted very well to our family. She loves to purr and loves sleeping in Kajetan's lap. Needless to say, she will be scrapped a lot so keep an eye out on layouts featuring this newest addition to our family :))

Sunny Thursday

Hello everyone. I hope your Thursday is going well. Mine was quiet - very unusual for me. But I savoured the quiet and enjoyed the beautiful sunny day especially as lots of rain is predicted in the coming days.

Here's a layout I did a couple of weeks ago. I'm still using up my older papers and I have to admit it is going quite well. I am also scrapping a lot of older photos. These photos are of Kajetan when he was a couple of months old. The paper is Kaisercraft but for the life of me I can't remember the name of the collection and am too lazy to go and look it up.

Back then Kaisercraft were also releasing embroidered badges which I loved, shame they don't do these any more. I put glitter on these and like how they turned out. Here are a couple of close ups of the badges:

Purple Pumpkin Sketch Challenge

As you all probably know I love Purple Pumpkin! The hand made buttons are gorgeous and perfect for layouts and cards. There are so many designs and colours so embellishing layouts is soooo easy. From May Purple Pumpkin has started a monthly sketch challenge. There are two prizes to win, one picked by Purple Pumpkin and one picked randomly so everyone has a chance to win. The requirements are to use the sketch as your inspiration and to use at least one Purple Pumpkin button.

In the top right hand corner I used this cute button:

And for my embellie cluster I used another 'car' button as well as part of a doily - I previously cut out the middle as I only wanted the outside part so have used the middle bit now.(saw this tip on the Purple Pumpkin blog :))

I came up with the bright idea to sew around the layout but don't know how to use a sewing machine. So I decided to hand stitch which was going well until I pricked myself and didn't realise it so got blood over the layout - not a pretty look. I managed to get most of it off and the rest disappeared with the magic of technology and Picasa

Happy Sunday! It's been a busy weekend here. Saturday I spent a lot of time scrapping whilst the kids and hubby were outside gardening. Today we cleaned the house and then hubby went to work. The kids played in the sand pit and then had a 'jelly bath' which they loved.

I really liked this month's sketch over at Page Maps so decided to give it a go. Here's the sketch:

This is an old photo of Kajeten, he was only a month old. I used Kaisercraft's 'K-Bot's' paper - quite an old collection but I have been working hard using up all my papers. One of my goals for this year was to use up more of my stuff and buy less and so far this has been going well although I still buy some stuff, just not as much.

I'm off to do some more scrapping and watching the Eurovision Song Contest. And on a side note, I have celebrated my first blog anniversary. The time sure did fly and a lot has happened during the last year. It's made me appreciate life even more and feel so blessed to have such wonderful children.

Busy Weekend!

What a busy weekend! Every day seems to be flying by and this weekend was no exception. I even managed to do a little scrapbooking yesterday.

Today I wanted to share this layout - it's a double page layout of Kalia. The photos were taken last November when Kalia was having a little nap. She looks so beautiful when she is sleeping. I used some old papers from Daisy Bucket, chipboard, ribbon and rhinestones. I made those cute flowers using my Nestabilities Circles. Here's the first page:

Kalia is just wonderful, I truly am blessed. Later this week I will post some recent layouts featuring my handsome young man who will be seven years old in a few months!

Monday!

Crazy Monday today! School holidays are finished. Kajetan is back at school today. Thankfully he loves school so it isn't a hassle getting him ready. We enjoyed the two weeks off though. No getting up early, the kids came to my bed every day and we had a bit of a lie in. It was great.

Kalia is having a nap so thought I'd pop in here. I wanted to share one of my favourite layouts. I've posted this before - I think about a year ago. I just love these photos. I remember that day. It was pouring so much and it was the first time that Kalia saw it rain so hard. It had been pretty dry for many years and Kalia was only a tiny baby when we did get some small amounts of rain. She was so excited to see the rain that day! She just stood and stared outside for ages. I think Kajetan and Kalia look adorable here.

I used some Daisy Bucket paper for this layout. And I printed off the photos in sepia as I thought this matched the paper more.

I am in the process of photographing some newer layouts I have completed. Will upload these as soon as I have finished.

A Long Time!

It's been a couple of months since I have posted anything. And what a crazy two months! But things are starting to get back to normal. I even managed to get some scrapping done last Friday so I have some new layouts to post. I will do that within the next couple of days.

Kalia is doing well. She turned two at the end of March and is well and truly on her way to being a 'terrible two'. Kajetan is doing well too. He has finished term one of year 1 and loves it. He really enjoys school and does well.

This month has been quite challenging as using stamps is quite out of my comfort zone. Now I need to learn how to colour using Copics and I will be a stamp master, hehehehe!

I added a little glitter to the flower and around the card. I am really liking glitter lately, it adds lots of dimension and shine. I also used some old paper I had from Chatterbox. I can't get it anymore which is a shame, I love the colour combo - it's so versatile especially for masculine layouts.

Isn't that little robot soooo cute! He is part of the 'Love Machine' stamp set from My Favourite Things. I also love the little sentiment (it smudged a bit, the surface of the journaling spot is shiny and I don't think the ink gripped well) I stamped him onto some gray cardstock, cut him out and then used glitter to outline him. I will need to learn to use Copics as I am starting to use stamps more but I have to say I think glitter looks great on the stamps.

Using this sketch and the very cute 'Millie the Mouse' stamp from My Favourite Things I made this very cute card. I used some glitter to outline the mouse and to colour in the inside of the ears and the little bow. I added some rhinestones and flowers and I ink distressed all the edges.

Challenge Masters Blog Hop

Creative Soup Mojo Monday - Get Ceative

For our challenge for this week's Mojo Monday at Creative Soup we had to use something we normally wouldn't on our layout - something that is 'junk'. I chose to use some shoelaces, a tag from a jacket, plastic bread bag tags and the plastic container from some scrappy supplies. Here's the picture of my 'junk' I wanted to recycle.

And here's my layout:

I put some red glitter onto the plastic bread bag tags and used them as embellishments. I used the shoelaces to wrap around my layout and tie a bow. I used the heart tag as part of my title. And the plastic container I used to put my photo into to lift the photo from the page.

I had my first challenge at Creative Soup. For the Mojo Monday Get Inspired challenge this week we were to use a catalogue for our inspiration.

I chose this page from the Ikea Catalogue as my inspiration. I was inspired by the colours and by the title which I used for my layout. I was also inspired to do a layout of parts of my house.

And here is my layout. I printed the photo of in Sepia to match the patterned paper more.

It's the last challenge for the year for Papercraft Star!! And it's a sketch challenge, one of my favourites.

I wanted to scrap my son using this sketch. He turned 6 this year so this sketch was perfect to scrap a photo of him every year up till now. He was such a cute baby and is an adorable boy now.

I used Stampin' Up 'Sunny Garden DSP', Stampin' Up cardstock, ribbon and buttons. I punched out the flowers from the DSP and used small strips of the paper to add some embellishments to the layout.

And here's my layout. Doesn't Kalia look so cute! And just a little hint, if you want to pleat your ribbon like I did around the circle, use a wider ribbon. The ribbon I chose wasn't wide enough and it took me forever to pleat and tuck in all the bits that kept coming out.

I used the beautiful products from Stampin' Up supplied by Catherine Pooler to create this simple but effective tag. I used my Cuttlebug, embossing folders and Sizzix dies as well as some ink. Here's the tag:

Step 1: Stick a tag onto some cardstock and cut around. I like to do this because it makes the tag stronger and less flimsy.

Step 2: Emboss your tag using your Cuttlebug (or other tool). I chose 'Craft Concepts - In Bloom' embossing folder. The flowers are so pretty on this folder and go well with the flower I use.

Step 3: While you are using your Cuttlebug (or other tool) cut out some flowers. I used the Tim Holtz Alterations Sizzix Die 'Tattered Florals'. You can just as easily punch out some flowers.

Step 4: Ink the tag lightly using Distress Ink (I used 'Vintage Photo') to lift the embossing. Also, ink the edges of your flowers.

Step 5: Curl the petals of your flowers. I use my paper piercer to roll the petals.

Step 6: Layer the flowers on top of each other and decorate the middle. I used a bingo chip to decorate mine.

Step 7: Before adhering the flower mat the tag onto another piece of contrasting cardstock. Wrap some tinsel around the tag and add some ribbon. Stick the tag onto the mat. Adhere the flower and add some glitter for some sparkle.

It's that simple :)

I cannot believe it is challenge 25 already at Papercraft Star. And it's only just over two weeks before 2010 finishes.

For the challenge this week we have this picture to use as our inspiration:

Here's the card I made using the colours from the challenge picture and Stampin' Up 'Deck the Halls' DSP.

I matted all the Designer Papers with Stampin' Up cardstock and inked the edges to make them stand out. I used a rub on for the sentiment and added some ribbon to the tag.

Good Tuesday Morning! Finally some warm weather. It makes it so much easier during holidays, the kids can go out and play instead of staying indoors cooped up.

I did this layout not too long ago. I used an old Kaisercraft collection. I love the colours in this collection - deep pinks and greens is a very pretty combination.

Kalia was only 5 days old in this photo. She will be two in three months. Where did the time go?? I think it goes quicker with the second. And I imagine even quicker with more children. Kajetan was so protective of her. Now they are at the stage of fighting over toys and Kajetan not always willing to share.

Kalia is demanding my attention yet again - so I am off!

Nuts About Sketches Reveal

Today is the first day of school holidays. It's the summer holidays so Kajetan has 6 weeks off. But so far we haven't been having summer weather - lots of rain and hardly over 20 degrees. But I am not complaining, I am not really fond of excessive heat.

This week's sketch at Nuts About Sketches is a double page with 6 photos. I had more photos that I wanted to use so for the 6x4 and the 5 x 3 1/2 I did a photo collage in Picasa and put two photos on each.

Here's my layout:

I used Kaisercraft's new collection 'Seaside' which I just love! The photos of Kalia were taken last Saturday at Aldinga Beach. Even though it's an hour and a half drive I love going there. One of the few beaches left where we can drive or car onto the beach. And usually there aren't too many people.

Today we are off to Darwin for a few days so I will be taking stacks of pics :)

Happy Sunday!

Yesterday I was at all day crop and had so much fun! I didn't get home till 1am. The ladies were so entertaining and I got a whole heap of scrapping done. I will post the layouts later this week.

But for now here is this layout. It's a layout I did quite a while ago and have been wanting to post it for a while but something always comes up.

This is one of my favourite photos of the children. The look so beautiful!

Papercraft Star - Challenge 24

This week's challenge at Papercraft Star is a Green Holidays Recipe Challenge. The recipe is to create an altered holiday gift, card or scrapbook layout using recycled or repurposed items you already have on hand.

And for the month of December Catherine Pooler is sponsoring the Design team with Stampin' Up products. I have never used these products before and let me tell you they are amazing!! The quality is very good and the Designer Papers are so pretty. Go check out Catherine's site here to see all the products as well as some amazing tutorials.

For this challenge I used the beautiful Stampin' Up 'Love Letter Designer Series Paper' collection. I have a few small boxes lying around that used to house chipboard alphas so I used one of these to create a gift box.

I firstly covered the whole box in black paper. Then I decorated the lid of the box. I used Stampin' Up Riding Hood Red cardstock. I then cut out a large rectangle and a small rectangle from the Designer Paper. I matted these onto Basic Black cardstock. I added some Raven Lace and a couple of flowers for embellishments. I stamped the sentiment onto Very Vanilla cardstock and also matted this onto the Basic Black cardstock. Before sticking down the paper I inked all the edges.

Hello and a Happy Monday!!

Time for my reveal for Nuts About Sketches! This week Shawn gave us a single page sketch. I just love the design of this sketch!

Here's the sketch (sorry it turned out a bit small):

I love using circles on a layout, it's a change from the usual straight lines. I cut my circles out by tracing cups, saucers, bowls or plates (depending on the size of the circle I want) onto the paper and then cutting out with scissors.

I used the Cosmo Cricket 'Togetherness' paper collection which is so cute!

I didn't have time last week to do the silhouette at Scrappin' Silhouettes so I combined last week's sketch and this week's sketch and made a double page layout.

She's Not Just a Pretty Face

What a busy few days! Kajetan had his school concert on Thursday - he was so cute. Layouts to follow :)

I've had this photo of Kalia for a while to scrap. I used this week's sketch from Scrappin' Silhouettes. Here's the sketch: And I combined this with a challenge from Queen Scraps which is an online store that sells premade pages and kits. The challenge was to use the colours from Michelle's layout - gray, orange, yellow, teal, green and brown, and create an autumn themed layout or 2 cards. I chose the layout option and I think I pushed it a little with the autumn feel - this photo of Kalia was taken in autumn :) I hope this counts, lol.

I just love these button and crochet doily from Purple Pumpkin Crafts. And those Prima flowers are also so pretty. I hid the journaling in the tag behind the photo.

I had so much fun with this week's challenge at Papercraft Star. Here is the challenge for this week:

For the handmade embellishment I made a pinwheel flower ornament - here's the card I made.

I used the Spellbinders Nestabilities Label and Circle die cuts (the circle is on the pinwheel under the yellow flower). And I just love this patterned paper. To be honest I've never heard of them before but it really is pretty.

This week my project for Papercraft Star will be posted on Friday but do head over to check out the great work from our Design Team :)

I did quite a bit of scrapping over the weekend. I want to get as much done as I can before the school holidays start again and I have hardly any time to do anything. For this layout I used this week's Scrappin' Silhouettes sketch.

I turned the sketch 90degrees, used 1 photo and patterned paper in place of the other photos. I made the paper daisy in the corner and embellished with buttons from Purple Pumpkin.

It's been really cloudy so I didn't get a great picture of the layout. I'll have to take another one at some stage. I am in love with Echo Park papers at the moment. They are so bright and the quality is really good. Here I've used the 'Sweet Summertime' collection.

I went for the very Clean and Simple look with this layout. I love there photos of Kajetan, he was about 2 and a half at the time. I am working feverishly to get all my photos scrapped. And although it is going fairly well I still have a tonne to get through. Maybe this will be my goal for 2011.

It's almost midnight but I'm staying up to take the cheese cake my hubby decided to bake out of the oven. He has an early start tomorrow so I volunteered to wait for it to finish baking.

While I'm waiting I thought I would post a layout I did as part of a layout morph. This is a game where the first layout is given to someone to scraplift. That person passes their layout onto the next person to scraplift and so on. At the end all the layouts are revealed in the order they were scrapped - it's great to see how the original layout morphed over time.

Back to the challenge:

As soon as I saw this challenge I knew I wanted to do a layout of my hubby. I wanted the layout to be a 'Thank You' to him for all the years we have spent together and all the things we have gone through together - the good and the bad.

Here's the layout:

The papers are Kaisercraft's 'Homemade' Collection. I think the colours go really well with a 'masculine' type layout. I distressed and inked the papers, the photo and the chipboard letters.

The Tim Holtz Sizzix folders worked perfectly for the dry embossing as they have the distressed look. I embossed the pieces of paper behind the photo, the small strip of paper under the word 'love', the title and the swirl. I used some distressing ink over the top to make the distressed images stand out.

I took these photos when we were at Port Elliot in January the day before Kajetan went back to school. The water was so cold so Kalia opted to play in the sand which she loves doing.

Just C&S - Public Challenge

Just C&S doesn't only have sketch challenges - there are also Public Challenges. These are challenges that the Design Team give to you. And this week it is my turn to set you all a challenge - and I had soooo much fun with this one.

I really like using ribbon but find myself often using it the same way. My challenge for you is to use ribbon on your project but do something different with it.

Here's my layout, it is titleless as lately I haven't liked putting titles on my layouts. Sometimes the layout looks pretty as is and I don't want to add anything and sometimes I just can't seem to think up of anything.

Back to my layout:

I have used ribbon in 3 different ways.

1) Tabs - these are very simple to do. Cut some pieces of ribbon, fold in half and stick behind a photo or patterned paper. I chose to do mine all the same length, but having different length and width ribbons also looks very good.

2) Pleat Border - instead of using patterned paper or just a strip of ribbon I created a pleated look with my ribbon.

3) Flower - I love how this flower turned out. I cut 8 pieces of ribbon of the same length. I chose a brad with a long stem and weaved each piece of ribbon onto it securing tightly when finished. To cover up all the ends I used a button - this also gives the flower a lovely finished look.

As you can see there are many ways to use ribbon. I'd love to see what you have created!! Have fun using your ribbon.

A rainy Wednesday here today, the spring weather we had the last week has disappeared. I just got back from Kindergym with Kalia. It's the first time we went and we had so much fun. It's amazing to watch her eyes light up whenever she does something new.

I love the colours in this photo with this Halloween theme. However, as I don't celebrate Halloween I chose the colours and the circles as my inspiration for my layout.

I used Kaisercraft's 'K-Bots' collection as the colours went perfectly with the photo inspiration. I used the Sizzix 'Tim Holtz - Gadgets and Gears' die cut and cut some gears out from the patterned paper to use as embellishments on the layout. I also used cute robot buttons from Purple Pumpkin.

How Much Is Too Much? Guest Designer

I am so honoured to be a Guest Designer this week at How Much Is Too Much? This is a great challenge site geared at using up all those scrapbooking products we have been collecting. For my challenge I chose the theme '10 things I dislike' - use 10 items from your stash that you don't like and create a layout about 10 things you don't like.

For my layout I have chosen 10 things that I don't necessarily dislike but find quite difficult to work with. Here's my layout:

The 10 things I chose are:
1. Patterned Paper with pictures - although they are beautiful I usually cut the pictures out rather than use the whole page as I don't really know how to
2. stickers - I am slowly getting used to using these
3. felt
4. printed pictures - I used butterflies on my layout
5. artisan tape - you can see a tiny amount used in the top right hand corner
6. chalk
7. buttons - the 'normal' ones not the cute decorative ones
8. brads
9. paper string
10. glitter - I generally find this very messy

And the 10 things I dislike are:
1. crowds
2. reality tv
3. road rage
4. shopping (gasp!! I know! unless it is scrapbook shopping which I love)
5. running late
6. lack of sleep
7. when my house is messy
8. heat waves
9. spiders
10. too much noise

Another crazy Monday!! Just about to go and drop Kajetan off at school, school holidays are over. The last two weeks have flown by. But we had lots of fun and it was nice to have both children at home.

It's been a while since I have just posted on my blog and done a layout just because. Life, school holidays and other things seem to get in the way sometimes. I wanted to scrap this photo of Kalia and this week's silhouette at Scrappin' Silhouettes was perfect for it.

The layout is very clean and simple and I love it! I love these types of layouts -the ones that come together easily and have a lot of focus on the photo.

The last couple of weeks have been crazy! Kajetan had school holidays so every day has been filled with many exciting things to do. We went to the movies, mountain climbing, visited friends, went to the park to kick the footy and did lots of craft. And tomorrow Kajetan goes back to school.

The design team had the privilege of using Bugaboo Stamps for their projects this week. There are so many stamps to choose from from flowers to babies. This one caught my eye straight away - it's the Summertime Peekers Swimming Pool. Kajetan has been asking for a pool party non stop so as soon as I saw this I thought it looks like a little Kajetan in a pool.

I used paint to colour the stamp in and used this week's sketch challenge to design the invitation.

It's Monday but today is a good Monday. Not only does Kajetan have school holidays but it's also a Public Holiday. A large group of friends and us are going for a lovely hike at Tapanappa Lookout and then we are having a BBQ. The warmer weather is finally here! It will be great for the kids to run around and a great opportunity to take lots of photos.

For my layout this week I chose the Grand Canyon as my inspiration. I have visited the Grand Canyon and what I remember most, besides its enormity and beauty, are the colours. The deep reds and browns. That's what inspired me to do this layout of Uluru.

I have visited Uluru and it never ceases to amaze me - it's a beautiful monolith constantly affected by the sun changing from deep browns to reds, oranges and grays.

My layout is very clean and simple so the main emphasis stays on the photo of Uluru. I have hidden my journaling on the tag that is tugged in behind the photo.

Nuts About Sketches Reveal

I must start by apologising for this late post. School holidays have started here and I seem to have lost track of time and days.

This week it's sketch 128 at Nuts About Sketches. It's a double page layout but of course you can incorporate the sketch to do a single page. Here's the sketch:

The photos of Kalia were taken this year at the Royal Adelaide Show. We had so much fun! We did the Yellow Brick Road and at one of the stops we received an apple. Kalia wanted to eat it all by herself but didn't manage to eat all of it.

I used lots of Prima flowers and glitter on this layout. The paper is Kaisercarft 'Utopia' collection. I really like the library card and wanted to use this to hide my journaling. I applied a rub on in the corner, put some glitter on the rub on and inked the edges to make it blend in with the layout.

Happy Friday! Design Team Challenge #2 is up at Just C&S so I can now show you my layout for this challenge.

This week Maureen set us the challenge to use at least 2 recycled products on our layout/project. I did a layout for this challenge:

I used 3 recycled items - the brown background cardboard that I received as part of some packaging in a parcel, the back of some scraps of patterned paper to matt the photo and packaging from Prima flowers.

This again is a photo of the Adelaide Botanic Gardens. This is one of my favourite places to visit at the moment. Just beautiful - a great place to take the children and to take many photos.
